Trakai is the old capital of Lithuania, surrounded by many lakes, famous for its 14th century castle, which was the residence of the rulers of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. It is the only water castle in all of Eastern Europe. It is located on one of the many islands in Lake Galve. The rich Trakai Museum of Local Lore is located in the castle.
