Feel the spirit of Georgia
Day 1:
Arrival. Tbilisi (Shuttle Bus) (240 km.) Arrival in Kutaisi in the morning and transfer to Tbilisi. After checking in at the hotel and taking a short break, we will travel to visit the old town of the Georgian capital. Tbilisi is strategically located: between Europe and Asia, along the historic Silk Road. We will start our visit from Metekhi Church, take the funicular to Narikala Fortress, which offers a wonderful panorama of the old town. We continue the excursion to the dome-shaped underground sulfur baths (17a.) – natural hot mineral pools. Evening walk on Rustaveli Avenue. In the evening a Georgian dinner with a show program. Day 2:
Tbilisi – Bodbe – Sighnaghi – Tsinandali – Tbilisi (300 km.) After breakfast we leave for the Kakheti region, famous for its wine land. We visit Bodbe St. Nino Monastery (4a.) – buried here St. Nino, a Georgian educator who proclaimed Christianity in Georgia. We continue our tour of the city of Sighnaghi, overlooking the Alazani Valley. The city has retained its original image since its establishment. We visit the winery Tsinandali – a museum that belonged to the famous poet and Duke Alexander Chavchavadze. In the evening we return to Tbilisi. Overnight at hotel. (P)
Day 3:
Tbilisi – Mtskheta – Ananuri – Kazbegi – Tbilisi (300 km.) Mtskheta is the ancient capital of Georgia, located at the confluence of the Aragvi and Kura rivers, and a sacred place for every Georgian. It is also the religious center of the country, as Christianity was proclaimed the state religion of Georgia here as early as the 4th century. Mtskheta is one of the oldest cities in Georgia and also one of the oldest permanently inhabited cities in the world. We continue to Stepantsminda, the bus rolls on Georgian military roads. Along the way we visit the church complex of Ananuri (16a.). The complex is located on the left bank of the Aragvi River, next to the magnificent Jinvali Pond. We continue to Kazbegi, a small town located at the bottom of the hill, with landscapes of extraordinary beauty, flora, fauna, wonderful people and history. You will enjoy the breathtaking nature high in the mountains, overlooking the gorges between the lakes and streams. We will walk from Kazbegi through the village of Gergeti to the Church of the Holy Trinity in Gergeti, located in a stunning location on a hill overlooking the snow-capped peaks of the Caucasus. Here you will enjoy unique nature with panoramic views, including Mount Kazbegi (5047). The walking tour lasts about 3-4 hours. Return to Tbilisi. Accommodation in Tbilisi. (P)
