Šakotis baking
In the morning we leave Vilnius. We are going to Ignalina, Strigailiškės village, where branches are baked. Here you will learn how to prepare and bake forks and participate in the baking of forks yourself. Fork tasting.
After that we go to visit Ginučiai water mill, which will soon celebrate its two hundredth anniversary. This mill is the only one of the six in the park that has preserved authentic equipment. We admire a wonderful panorama from Ladakalnis, declared a geomorphological natural monument. From here you have a wonderful view of 6 lakes. For lunch, we recommend the café, which serves dishes of Aukštaitija national heritage.
Later we head towards Molėtai. 4.30 p.m. In Molėtai, a tour of an old ethnographic homestead on the shores of Lake Lenktinis Lake, in the territory of which there is an ancient observatory-sanctuary of celestial lights. In the middle of a circle of ten wooden pillars with calendar signs is a stone altar of the Sun-Fire. The poles mark the six countries of the world and the azimuths of the flow and show of the Sun on the most important calendar holidays. By visiting here we will learn how the lights of the sky were observed in antiquity, calendar time calculations are performed, you will hear a lot of interesting things about the pagan faith of our ancestors, knowledge of astronomy, zodiac. An evening by the campfire is available on request.
After the tour we head towards Vilnius and on the way we visit the geographical center of Europe, see the exposition, which opened on May 1, 2004. In the evening we return to Vilnius.
